Patriots Secure Victory Over Warriors
In a thrilling encounter at Providence Stadium, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors by five runs in the 25th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025, thanks to Mohammad Rizwan’s impressive batting and Naseem Shah’s crucial bowling.
The Patriots, after electing to bat, managed to score 149-6 in their allotted 20 overs. Rizwan was the star performer, smashing 85 runs off 62 deliveries, which included eight boundaries and three maximums.
Navin Bidaisee offered support with an undefeated 22 runs from 21 balls, and Rilee Rossouw added 14 runs. However, other batsmen struggled to contribute significantly.
For the Warriors, Gudakesh Motie and Hassan Khan each claimed two wickets, while Romario Shepherd managed to take one.
In response, the Guyana Amazon Warriors were limited to 144-8 in their 20 overs, narrowly missing the target set by the Patriots.
Shai Hope was the highest scorer with 31 runs off 27 balls, followed by Ben McDermott who scored 21 off 18 balls, and Moeen Ali who added 19 off 19 balls.
Naseem Shah shone with the ball for the Patriots, taking 2 wickets for 29 runs in his quota of four overs.
Waqar Salamkheil also picked up two wickets, while Jason Holder, Ashmead Nedd, Navin Bidaisee, and Dominic Drakes each contributed with a single wicket.
This victory propels St Kitts and Nevis Patriots to the fourth spot in the CPL points table, with three wins out of nine matches. They now possess six points with a net run rate of -0.130.
