Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Won’t Travel to India for World Cup, States PCB Chairman

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi affirmed on Saturday that the national women’s cricket team will not journey to India for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, which is slated to occur later in the year.

The PCB chief made a visit to the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground to commend the national women’s team. They concluded their ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier campaign with an unblemished record of five consecutive victories, culminating in a win against Bangladesh in their final match.

During his visit to the venue, which is set to host matches for the six-team tournament, Naqvi clarified that the national women’s team will abstain from traveling to India for the major event. This decision aligns with the ‘Fusion Formula,’ a protocol established before the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy earlier this year.

“Pakistan will not be touring India, as this particular agreement is already in place,” Naqvi stated firmly.

When questioned about the designated neutral location for Pakistan’s matches in the World Cup, Naqvi explained that the decision rests with the host nation. However, he reiterated that the national team will not be making the trip to India.

Notably, Pakistan secured their position in the World Cup with an impressive 87-run victory over Thailand on Thursday. This was followed by a dominant seven-wicket triumph over Bangladesh earlier today, concluding their campaign flawlessly.

Reflecting on the performance of the team led by Fatima Sana, Naqvi attributed their success to team unity. He also mentioned that their outstanding achievements would be recognized and rewarded.

“When a team is cohesive and performs collectively, it yields such positive results. They will certainly receive recognition for their efforts. They have earned it,” Naqvi remarked.
