Pakistan Bowlers Restrict Bangladesh in Second T20I
DHAKA: In the second T20I of the three-match series held at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday, Pakistan’s bowlers combined effectively to dismiss Bangladesh for 133.
Pakistan’s captain, Salman Ali Agha, elected to bowl first, a decision that proved beneficial as the pace bowlers of the visiting team quickly gained control.
The Green Shirts achieved their initial success early, with Faheem Ashraf, the fast-bowling all-rounder, inducing an edge from opener Mohammad Naim (three), who was caught behind, leaving the score at 5-1.
Following this early setback, skipper Litton Das (eight) partnered briefly with Parvez Hossain Emon, adding 20 runs before Das was dismissed in the fifth over.
The hosts then suffered further losses, tumbling to 28/4 by the 5.5-over mark.
Subsequently, Mahedi Hasan, an all-rounder, and Jaker Ali, the wicketkeeper-batter, initiated a recovery, forging a stabilizing 53-run stand.
Mohammad Nawaz, a left-arm spinner, broke this partnership in the 14th over, removing Hasan, who contributed 33 runs from 25 balls, including two boundaries and two sixes.
Ali remained resilient, forming smaller partnerships with the tailenders to boost Bangladesh’s total, achieving a hard-fought half-century.
The wicketkeeper batter was the highest scorer for the hosts, scoring 55 from 48 deliveries, which featured one four and five sixes.
Ahmed Daniyal, making his debut, along with Abbas Afridi and Salman Mirza, spearheaded Pakistan’s bowling attack, each claiming two wickets. Nawaz and Faheem each took one wicket.
It’s worth noting that Bangladesh entered this match leading the series 1-0, having secured a dominant seven-wicket victory in the first game.
