Pakistan Women Aim to Extend Winning Streak Against Ireland
DUBLIN: Pakistan’s captain, Fatima Sana, conveyed her team’s resolve on Tuesday to maintain their undefeated record by securing a victory in the forthcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland.
The national side is currently enjoying a streak of five consecutive wins across all formats, fueled by their successful ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Lahore, where they previously triumphed over Ireland.
Having successfully qualified for the major tournament, which is jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka in September, the women’s team is preparing for an eventful season, starting with the Ireland series.
The three-match series is set to kick off on August 6, with the subsequent games scheduled for August 8 and 10. All matches will be held at the Clontarf Cricket Club.
Speaking about their preparations for the upcoming season and the Ireland series, Sana stated that the team’s spirit was high and that the players had worked diligently to refine their skills during their training camp in Karachi.
She further highlighted the team’s determination to prolong their winning streak as a key motivator for winning the upcoming series.
“Our morale is high as we enter this busy season. Each player has invested significant effort in enhancing their abilities during the Karachi camp, and everyone is eager to perform their best in the T20I series,” Sana stated.
“Our goal is to continue our unbeaten run from the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier in April by also winning this series,” she added.
Historically, Pakistan and Ireland have clashed 19 times in Women’s T20Is, with Pakistan holding a commanding lead with 15 wins.
