Muhammad Shahzad Expresses Disappointment After Pakistan Shaheens Omission
Following Haseebullah Khan’s recent social media activity, another Pakistani cricketer, Muhammad Shahzad, a fast bowler, has posted a cryptic message on social media. This follows his exclusion from the Pakistan Shaheens team for the Top End T20 Series in Darwin, Australia.
The competition is scheduled to be held from August 14 to August 24.
Shahzad, a promising right-arm fast bowler, shared an Instagram story shortly after the 15-member team was revealed, apparently showing his disappointment at not being selected. He wrote: “Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.”
The squad, led by middle-order batsman Muhammad Irfan Khan, is comprised of up-and-coming talents from across the nation.
The team includes two wicketkeeper-batsmen, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, as well as four players with international experience: Abdul Samad, Haider Ali, Mubasir Khan, and Faisal Akram.
Muhammad Shahzad, who is 21 years old, has participated in 21 T20 matches, amassing 316 runs with a strike rate of 118.79, including one half-century. He has only managed to take three wickets with the ball.
Shahzad played for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) tenth season earlier this year, but he had a bad run of form, scoring just 24 runs in six games.
The Pakistan Shaheens will begin their campaign on August 14 at the TIO Stadium in Darwin against Bangladesh ‘A’. The team will play Scorchers on August 16 and Renegades on August 18, all at the same location.
Their subsequent three group games will take place at the DXC Arena against Kingsmen on August 19, Strikers on August 21, and Nepal on August 22. The semi-finals and final will both take place on August 24.
More information regarding the training camp for the Darwin-bound team will be released shortly.
