New Leadership Elected for Pakistan Wrestling Federation

LAHORE: In a recent election, Inam Butt, a celebrated Pakistani wrestler and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, was chosen as the new Secretary of the Pakistan Wrestling Federation (PWF).

The election also saw Arshad Sattar secure the position of President, Abdul Mubeen Chaudhry appointed as Chairman, and Muhammad Riaz named Treasurer for the upcoming term.

The announcement of the newly elected officials took place during a PWF general meeting, where all candidates were elected without opposition, demonstrating unanimous support.

The gathering included officials from the Pakistan Sports Board’s Election Commission along with other federation representatives.

Inam Butt’s Vision for Wrestling

Following his election, Inam Butt spoke to the media, emphasizing his dedication to revitalizing wrestling in Pakistan, with a focus on the grassroots level.

Butt stated, “My main objective is to find and cultivate talent starting from the ground level. I plan to be directly involved in training and guiding young wrestlers.”

President Welcomes New Secretary

President Arshad Sattar expressed his enthusiasm for Butt’s appointment, highlighting its historical significance.

He remarked, “This marks the first instance where an elite athlete like Inam Butt has assumed a crucial administrative role. His extensive experience as a top-tier wrestler will provide essential insights for the sport’s advancement.”

Inam Butt also introduced a 100-day initiative designed to discover and develop talent throughout the nation.

He further added, “Being a wrestler, I am aware of the hurdles athletes encounter. I am confident in knowing the necessary steps to elevate Pakistan’s wrestling to compete at international levels.”

Notably, Inam has had a distinguished wrestling career, earning eight gold, three silver, and one bronze medal across various championships, including the Commonwealth Games, World Beach Championships, World Beach Games, Asian Beach Games, and South Asian Games.
