Pakistan Clinches Victory Over Kyrgyzstan in AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifier

Pakistan wrapped up their AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifying journey with a 2-1 triumph over Kyrgyzstan at the Sport Centre Kelapa Dua Stadium in Tangerang this Saturday.

Despite missing out on a spot in the main tournament, the Pakistani team demonstrated considerable progress by securing victories in two of their three matches, all against opponents with higher rankings.

Mariam Mahmood, the forward, delivered an outstanding performance for Pakistan, netting both goals in the first half. She initiated the scoring in the fourth minute and extended their advantage with a penalty in the 26th minute.

Kyrgyzstan’s Alina Gaparova managed to score in the 69th minute, but Pakistan successfully defended their lead to claim the win.

The game’s statistics highlighted Pakistan’s dominance, recording 16 shots compared to Kyrgyzstan’s 10, along with eight corner kicks against four. Pakistan also spearheaded 48 dangerous attacks, emphasizing their aggressive gameplay.

Pakistan, currently ranked 157th globally, underscored their development with wins against Kyrgyzstan (ranked 136th) and Indonesia (ranked 95th).

Even though their qualification hopes were dashed after an 8-0 loss to Chinese Taipei in their initial match, the team’s overall performance signals a promising trajectory for women’s football in the nation.
