Pakistan Cricket Team Offers Condolences to Rashid Khan

Following the passing of his elder brother, Haji Abdul Halim Shinwari, the Pakistan cricket team conveyed their sympathies to Afghanistan’s captain, Rashid Khan.

A video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) showed national players and team manager Naveed Akram Cheema comforting the Afghan skipper, offering embraces, and praying for the departed.

The 26-year-old, currently leading Afghanistan in the Sharjah tri-series, has received condolences from the international cricket community.

Tributes from Teammates and Former Captains

Afghanistan opener Ibrahim Zadran was among the first to express his condolences on social media, stating, “Saddened to hear about the passing of Rashid Khan’s elder brother Haji Abdul Halim… My heartfelt condolences to @rashidkhan_19 and his family.”

Former Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan shared his grief, saying, “It is with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of the elder brother of @rashidkhan_19 (Haji Abdul Halim Shinwari). May Allah grant him the highest ranks of Paradise and bestow patience upon their family. Ameen.”

Rashid Khan’s Resilience on the Field

Despite his personal loss, Rashid Khan played in the series opener against Pakistan, demonstrating great resilience.

In the match where Afghanistan was bowled out for 143 chasing a target of 183, losing by 39 runs, the all-rounder made a noteworthy contribution of 39 runs from 16 deliveries.

The Afghan team is set to play against the UAE in their second tri-series match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on September 1.
