Pakistan Secures Victory Against Philippines in AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup

KARACHI: In their opening match of the AVC Men’s Volleyball Nations Cup, held in Manama at Isa bin Rashid Hall, Pakistan triumphed over the Philippines with a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

The set scores were recorded as 25-18, 25-12, 18-25, and 25-22.

Pakistan began strongly, claiming the first two sets with relative ease. However, the Philippines countered by taking the third set. The fourth set was closely contested, with both sides exchanging scores until Pakistan eventually pulled ahead to clinch the match.

This victory puts Pakistan in a favorable position early in Pool C, which also includes Chinese Taipei.

Key contributors for Pakistan included Murad Khan, Mussawar Khan, and Afaq Khan, each scoring 14 points.

In terms of statistics, Pakistan outperformed the Philippines in attack points (48-45) and blocks (14-13). The Philippines had a slight edge in service points (4-3). Pakistan capitalized on 28 errors made by their opponents, while the Philippines scored 15 points from Pakistani errors.

Pakistan’s subsequent group stage match is scheduled for Thursday against Chinese Taipei.

Ch Muhammad Yaqoob, Chairman of the Pakistan Volleyball Federation, and Sohail Khawar Mir, President of PVF, jointly congratulated the team on their successful start.

Chairman Yaqoob remarked, “This victory demonstrates the team’s commitment and effort. We take pride in our players and wish them success going forward in the tournament.”

President Mir shared a similar sentiment, stating, “This win marks an excellent start to the campaign, and we anticipate the team will maintain this level of performance. We send our best to the team, and we hope they will bring honor to the nation.”
