Pakistan Shaheens Revamp Squad for Adelaide Strikers Clash
DARWIN: For their fifth Top End T20 Series match against Adelaide Strikers at DXC Arena on Wednesday, Pakistan Shaheens have made a couple of adjustments to their lineup.
Ghazi Ghori, a wicketkeeper-batter, and Mehran Mumtaz, a spinner, have been brought into the team, taking the places of Khawaja Nafay and fast bowler Mohammad Wasim Jr.
The Shaheens are currently in third place in the points standings with four points and a net run rate of 0.832 after earning two victories in their first four contests.
In their most recent match, the Chicago Kingsmen defeated Pakistan by a score of 69 runs to maintain their dominance in the competition.
The Kingsmen batted first and amassed an impressive 206-5 total in 20 overs, largely due to a 102-run partnership between Tajinder Dhillon and Milind Kumar.
Milind hammered 74 runs off 37 balls, which included eight fours and three sixes, while Dhillon hit 58 runs off 37 balls. Shayan Jahangir, the opener, made a 30-run contribution, but the rest of the lineup was unable to make a substantial impact.
Mohammad Wasim Jr. took two wickets for 57 runs for the Shaheens, while Shahid Aziz and Saad Masood each claimed one.
The Shaheens struggled in the chase and were only able to muster 137-8 in response to the 207-run target. Yasir Khan led the way with 38 runs off 32 balls, while skipper Irfan Khan and Shahid Aziz each contributed 24 runs.
Late resistance came from Wasim Jr (16*) and Ubaid Shah (13*), but Pakistan’s defeat was confirmed by consistent breakthroughs.
Pakistan Shaheens playing XI vs Adelaide Strikers: Yasir Khan, Ghazi Ghori (WK), Abdul Samad, Mohammad Faiq, Maaz Sadaqat, Irfan Khan Niazi (C), Mubasir Khan, Shahid Aziz, Ubaid Shah, Mehran Mumtaz, Faisal Akram.
