Pakistan Shaheens Gear Up for Australia Tour
The Pakistan Shaheens squad commenced their five-day training camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore this Sunday. This camp is in preparation for their forthcoming tour of Australia for the Top End T20 Series.
Eight players out of the fifteen-member team participated in the opening session. They trained under the guidance of the coaching staff, with head coach Ghulam Ali leading the charge.
The players who attended the session included Pakistan Shaheens captain Muhammad Irfan Khan, Abdul Samad, Ahmed Daniyal, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Saad Masood, Mohammad Salman Mirza, and Yasir Khan.
Faisal Akram, Haider Ali, Maaz Sadaqat, Mehran Mumtaz, Mubasir Khan, Shahid Aziz, and Ubaid Shah are currently on tour in England with another Pakistan Shaheens team. These players are expected to join the camp on August 7, after their series concludes.
The Lahore camp will feature rigorous training sessions. Moreover, the team will engage in scenario-based practice matches. The aim is to adequately prepare the squad for the tough conditions expected in Australia.
The team’s departure for Australia is scheduled for August 8. The eleven-team T20 tournament will be held in Darwin from August 14 to 24. The Shaheens will begin their campaign against Bangladesh A at TIO Stadium on August 14.
