Pakistan Shaheens Lead South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers by 202 Runs

CANTERBURY: On Monday, a combined effort by the Pakistan Shaheens’ bowling attack, complemented by Rohail Nazir’s ton, solidified their advantage in the three-day red-ball match against the South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers at the Spitfire Ground.

At the close of the second day, South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers stood at 183/6, still trailing by 202 runs. Jack Carney, the wicketkeeper-batter, and Vivan Hassen remained at the crease, not out with scores of 32 and 10, respectively.

The home team faced an early setback when Ubaid Shah dismissed opener Ollie Meadows (eight) with only 19 runs marked on the scoreboard.

Following the initial stumble, Max Dunne (26) and Andrew Umeed (30) managed to put together a partnership of 39 runs for the second wicket before Mehran Mumtaz claimed both their wickets.

Stuart van der Merwe, batting at number five, briefly spearheaded the South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers’ batting effort, scoring 41 off 101 balls before being bowled out by Mubasir Khan.

Mubasir then struck again, taking Hishaam Khan out for a duck after facing 11 balls, further reducing South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers to 157/6.

So far, Mubasir, Ubaid, and Mehran have each taken two wickets for Pakistan Shaheens.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan Shaheens continued their first innings from an overnight score of 369/8, with Rohail and Maaz Sadaqat at the crease.

The pair sustained their dominance over the South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers’ bowlers, adding 16 runs to their overnight partnership of 72. Pakistan Shaheens declared their first innings at 385/5 shortly after Rohail Nazir celebrated his first century of the tour.

The wicketkeeper batter led the scoring for Pakistan Shaheens, remaining unbeaten at 100 off 120 deliveries, which included 14 boundaries. Maaz contributed 39 off 48 balls, hitting two fours and two sixes.

For South Asian Cricket Academy & MCC Young Cricketers, Sana Khan, Hishaam, and Easa Nadeem each claimed two wickets, while Chinmay Mullapudi and captain Shaariq Sheikh each took one.
