Pakistan Advances to Asian Doubles Squash Championship Final

Pakistan has earned a spot in the final of the Asian Doubles Squash Championship after a challenging 2-1 victory against Malaysia in the semifinals held in Kuching on Wednesday.

The Pakistani team, composed of Noor Zaman and Nasir Iqbal, triumphed over Malaysia’s Syafiq Kamal and Duncan Lee in a closely contested three-game match. They secured the win with scores of 10-11, 11-9, 11-9. The intense match lasted for one hour and eight minutes.

With this victory, Pakistan is set to compete against top-seeded India in the final. India’s Abhay Singh and Velavan Senthil kumar are ready, setting the stage for a significant showdown between the subcontinent’s top teams.

Earlier in the tournament, on Tuesday, Pakistan progressed to the semifinals by defeating Korea 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

The pair of Iqbal and Zaman defeated Korea’s Jiang Min Ryu and Jaijin Yoo in a gripping encounter, securing the match victory with scores of 11-3, 5-11, and 11-4.

Earlier that day, Pakistan solidified their position in the knockout stage by defeating Chinese Taipei in their final group-stage match.

Nasir and Noor overwhelmed Chi Yu-Wei and Chen Ching-Fu in straight sets, achieving an 11-2, 11-9 victory in just 11 minutes.

As the second seed in the championship, Pakistan has shown impressive performance throughout the event.

On Monday, their campaign began with consecutive wins in the group stage, defeating the Philippines 11-7, 11-4, and South Korea with another dominant showing.

Earlier in the competition, Noor Zaman’s journey in the Asian Individual Squash Championship ended after a narrow defeat in his pre-quarterfinal match against Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah.

The current World U-23 champion, experiencing a back spasm, lost the initial two games 3-11, 3-11 but rallied to win the subsequent two 11-3 and 12-10. Nevertheless, Chuah claimed the deciding game 11-2, concluding Zaman’s participation.
