Pakistan Shaheens to Participate in Top End T20 Series 2025
LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially verified that Pakistan Shaheens will be returning to Darwin for the third year running to take part in the Top End T20 Series in 2025.
This year, the competition is slated to take place between August 14 and August 24. The Shaheens are scheduled to play Bangladesh ‘A’ in the competition’s opening match at TIO Stadium in Darwin.
Eleven teams will participate in the event, playing 36 T20 games at five locations: DXC Arena, TIO Stadium, Gardens Oval, Cazaly’s Arena, and Freds Pass. In the next weeks, tournament organizers will provide further information.
Pakistan Shaheens advanced to the final in 2023, while they participated in the first semi-final the previous year, demonstrating their consistent performance in the competition.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed emphasized the significance of the Top End T20 Series in developing young talent and expressed gratitude to the hosts for their unwavering support.
“We are happy to confirm Pakistan Shaheens’ involvement in the Top End T20 Series for the third time in a row. This event remains a venue for our up-and-coming cricketers to get useful experience and exposure in challenging conditions.
We appreciate Northern Territory Cricket’s continuous cooperation and for holding a high-quality, professional event that greatly aids in the development of our rising talent.”
Northern Territory Cricket CEO Gavin Dovey voiced his enthusiasm for hosting the teams once again and emphasized the broader goal of the competition.
“We are thrilled to welcome our good friends the PCB and BCB back to Darwin, where we are honored and privileged to host two true giants of the game.
Pakistan defeated the Perth Scorchers in their opening match of the Top End T20 Series’ previous iteration, but they were defeated by the Melbourne Stars in their subsequent encounter.
Following that, the Men in Green won back-to-back games against Tasmania and the Melbourne Renegades, as well as against Bangladesh ‘A’.
Pakistan defeated the Australian Capital Territory in their final group encounter to earn a spot in the semifinal round, where they were eliminated after falling to the Adelaide Strikers.
