Pakistan Team Expected to Include New Players for Bangladesh T20I Series

The Pakistan cricket team is anticipated to feature fresh faces for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, scheduled for July.

Reports indicate that left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi and spinner Sufiyan Muqeem are likely to rejoin the national squad.

Shaheen’s last appearance was in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in March, where he secured two wickets across four games with an economy rate of 10.23.

Sufiyan also participated in the same series, playing only one match and leaving a mark with two wickets at an impressive economy rate of 3.00.

Furthermore, senior batter Babar Azam may also be included in the national squad, as he has been given assurances regarding future opportunities.

The tentative schedule for Pakistan’s T20I tour of Bangladesh has been determined, with the team expected to reach Dhaka on July 18, sources verified on June 1.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has formulated the initial itinerary and communicated it to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The T20I series is set to begin on July 20, with subsequent matches on July 22 and 24.

All three matches will take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.

This tour is separate from the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP). The series was organized after discussions between senior officials from the PCB and BCB during the ICC Champions Trophy preparations, which Pakistan is scheduled to host later in the year.

Recently, Pakistan’s white-ball team started a new phase under Mike Hesson, previously the coach of New Zealand.

Hesson quickly led the team to a 3-0 T20I series victory against Bangladesh, marking Pakistan’s first home series win since December 2021.
