Pakistan Hockey Team Arrives in Malaysia for FIH Nations Cup
The Pakistan national hockey team has landed in Malaysia to compete in the FIH Hockey Nations Cup, which will be held from June 15 to June 21.
The team will begin their tournament journey on June 15 with a match against Malaysia. Following this, Pakistan will compete against Japan on June 16 and New Zealand on June 18.
Pakistan is in Pool B and will face competition from host nation Malaysia, Japan, and New Zealand.
The event will consist of pool matches, with the leading teams moving on to the semi-finals on June 20. The final and bronze medal matches are slated for June 21.
Ammad Butt will lead the 20-member Pakistan squad as captain, with Rana Waheed serving as vice-captain.
The eight participating teams have been divided into two pools for the preliminary rounds. Pool A includes France, Korea, South Africa, and Wales, while Pool B includes Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Pakistan.
All teams are scheduled to play on the opening day, and the tournament will proceed with classification matches and medal rounds as the week progresses.
The FIH Hockey Nations Cup is a significant competition for teams seeking to qualify for the FIH Hockey Pro League. The tournament champion will be promoted to the 2025–26 Pro League season.
