Asif to Captain Pakistan Contingent at IBSF Event

A snooker team of four from Pakistan is gearing up to participate in the IBSF World Under-17, Under-21, Masters, and Six Red Men’s Snooker Championships, scheduled in Manama, Bahrain, from July 13 to 24, 2025. The group features a combination of experienced and upcoming players with significant achievements in international matches.

Spearheading the squad is Muhammad Asif, a highly accomplished snooker player with IBSF World Snooker Championship titles from 2012 (Bulgaria), 2019 (Turkey), and 2022 (Qatar), in addition to several Asian and national accolades. He is set to compete in the Masters and Six Red competitions.

Shahid Aftab will also be participating. He is the current national snooker champion. He previously won a bronze medal at the 3rd Asian Team Snooker Championship (2015, Iran). Aftab is recognized for his consistent performance and accurate potting and will play in the Masters and Six Red divisions.

Representing Pakistan in the Under-21 category is Ahsan Ramzan, the Asian Under-21 Snooker Champion from 2023 (Iran). Ahsan also claimed the IBSF World Snooker Championship in Qatar in 2021.

Muhammad Hasnain Akhtar, a rising star, is slated to participate in both the Under-17 and Under-21 competitions. The 16-year-old recently gained attention after winning the Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship (2024, Saudi Arabia).

Naveed Kapadia, the Secretary of the Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA), will accompany the team in the role of manager and referee.
