Aslam Returns to NCA with Plans to Revamp Coaching Program
Shahid Aslam, a former first-class cricketer, has been reappointed as the manager of coach education at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He resumed his duties at the academy on Saturday.
Aslam, who previously held the same position, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and revealed that significant changes are planned for the NCA’s coach education program.
“Returning to the National Cricket Academy is truly an honor,” stated Aslam. “I’ve previously served as the manager of coach education, and I’m eager to contribute again.”
“The coach education program is poised for a comprehensive revamp,” he added.
Aslam has a well-known background within Pakistan’s coaching structure. He has held various positions with the national men’s cricket team and also led the national women’s team.
His most recent involvement with the men’s national team was last year, when he was selected as their batting coach for the limited-overs tour to Zimbabwe.
Following struggles in the batting department, particularly during the T20I series against Australia, there were indications that Shahid Aslam might be appointed as the permanent batting coach.
Reportedly, former interim head coach Aqib Javed endorsed Aslam for the role, citing his extensive experience in training batters.
However, the former first-class cricketer was later removed from the position. He is now ready to begin another term as the manager of coach education at the NCA.
For the national men’s team’s upcoming three-match away series against Bangladesh, Muhammad Hanif Malik will take on the role of the national men’s team’s batting coach. The series is scheduled to commence on Sunday.
Malik was appointed to the position before the Green Shirts’ T20I series against the Tigers in May.
