KARACHI: The duo of Muhammad Asif and Awais Munir, representing Pakistan 1, have advanced to the semifinals of the Asian Team Snooker Championship. They secured their place with a 3-1 victory against fellow countrymen Shahid Aftab and Muhammad Sajjad of Pakistan 2.
The initial frame established the tone for the match. Awais Munir faced Muhammad Sajjad in a tightly contested game, which Munir won with a score of 74-53, giving Pakistan 1 an initial edge.
In the subsequent frame, Muhammad Asif competed against Shahid Aftab. However, Asif couldn’t hold onto the advantage, as Aftab clinched a 66-27 victory, leveling the overall score to 1-1.
The pivotal moment arrived during the doubles frame, where Asif and Munir demonstrated great teamwork, overpowering their rivals with a convincing 61-22 win and regaining the lead.
The concluding frame showcased a rematch between Awais and Sajjad. This time, Munir delivered a stellar performance, ensuring Pakistan One’s triumph with a decisive 71-01 victory.
The final scores in each frame were: 74-53, 27-66, 61-22, and 71-01, all in favor of Pakistan 1.
With this result, Pakistan 1 is set to compete against Malaysia in the semifinals, sustaining Pakistan’s aspirations of winning the Asian Team Snooker Championship.
