Packers Release Cornerback Jaire Alexander

GREEN BAY: The Green Bay Packers, former champions of the National Football League (NFL), have announced the release of American cornerback Jaire Alexander following two seasons marked by persistent injuries.

Alexander, who was the Packers’ first-round pick in the 2018 draft, participated in 78 games throughout his seven seasons in the NFL. He received Pro Bowl recognition in both 2020 and 2022. However, his career was significantly impacted by injuries during the past two seasons, limiting him to just 14 games.

Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst, in announcing the team’s decision, commended Alexander for his on-field performance and his presence in the locker room.

Gutekunst expressed that Alexander would be missed and extended his best wishes for the future.

Statement from General Manager

“During his seven seasons with the Packers, Jaire distinguished himself as one of the top players in the NFL at a highly demanding position,” Gutekunst stated.

“His contributions to our organization were evident on the field, in the locker room, and within our community, and he will be missed.

“We appreciate everything he has given, and we wish him the very best going forward.”

Notably, Alexander declined to speak with reporters on locker cleanout day, stating that he had ‘nothing good to say’ and was uncertain about his return in 2025.

Earlier this offseason, Gutekunst had mentioned the team’s significant investment in Alexander, expressing a desire to see a return on that investment.

“We have invested heavily in Jaire and want to ensure that if he is not contributing to our team’s success on the field, we receive some value back for that investment,” Gutekunst remarked.
