Orioles Dominate Rockies with Rogers’ Stellar Performance

BALTIMORE: Trevor Rogers shone on the mound, pitching seven scoreless innings, while the Orioles’ offense exploded, resulting in an 18-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Rogers was virtually unhittable, surrendering just a single hit in his dominant seven innings. The left-handed pitcher recorded five strikeouts and one walk, delivering what could be considered his most impressive performance this season.

Baltimore’s bullpen maintained the shutout, with Yaramil Hiraldo and Kade Strowd each contributing a scoreless inning to finalize the two-hit shutout.

The Orioles’ offense was equally potent, amassing 17 hits and hitting three home runs. Cedric Mullins launched a three-run homer, Tyler O’Neill added a two-run shot, and Alex Jackson followed with a solo home run after Rogers left the game.

Ryan O’Hearn chipped in with two RBI singles, while Gunnar Henderson led the team with three hits.

The scoring commenced in the first inning with an RBI single by O’Hearn, and Baltimore continued to build their lead, scoring five more runs by the fourth inning—highlighted by O’Neill’s homer in the second inning, his fifth this season, and Mullins’ 14th of the year in the fourth.

The game became a rout in the seventh when the Orioles exploded for nine runs. Henderson and Coby Mayo each contributed two-run doubles, and Jackson Holliday, O’Hearn, Mullins, and O’Neill all had multi-hit games.

Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela (4-14) struggled, lasting just four innings and allowing six runs on six hits and two walks. Colorado’s lone hit through the initial eight innings was from Thairo Estrada in the second.

With this victory, the Orioles’ record improved to 3-6 since the All-Star break, while the Rockies fell to 3-5 during the same period.

Looking ahead, Japanese right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano is scheduled to start Sunday’s game for Baltimore, potentially his final appearance for the team before Thursday’s trade deadline.

Colorado will respond with left-hander Austin Gomber, who will be making his eighth start of the season.
