Usyk Predicts Itauma as Future Heavyweight Champion
Oleksandr Usyk has tipped Moses Itauma as a potential future undisputed heavyweight champion. Usyk, the current undisputed heavyweight titleholder, boasts an unblemished record, most recently triumphing over Daniel Dubois. His initial victory against Tyson Fury secured him the undisputed heavyweight title for the first time in 24 years, with the subsequent win solidifying his unification of the belts.
Usyk is scheduled for a rematch with Dubois on July 19 at Wembley Stadium. To retain his title and become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, Usyk must once again defeat Dubois, further cementing his legacy.
In a recent interview, Usyk, renowned for his achievements in heavyweight boxing, voiced his support for the emerging Slovenian-British talent, Itauma, predicting his rise to stardom and undisputed champion status.
“Who will be the next heavyweight champion? I believe Moses Itauma is a remarkable fighter. He is young, just 20 years old, and I foresee a bright future for him,” Usyk stated.
Itauma previously aimed to surpass Mike Tyson’s record as the youngest heavyweight champion at 19. Although that milestone has passed, the young boxer continues to progress rapidly and is anticipated to achieve significant accomplishments earlier than many of his contemporaries.
Itauma has gained prominence in recent years, maintaining a perfect record of 12 wins, with 10 victories achieved by knockout.
The 20-year-old showcases exceptional skills and has drawn comparisons to legends like Tyson since his early career.
Currently, Itauma, the undefeated heavyweight contender, is slated to face fellow British boxer Dillian Whyte in Saudi Arabia, with the fight reportedly set for August 16.
