Usyk and Krassyuk Conclude Boxing Partnership After 12 Years
Oleksandr Usyk, the undefeated heavyweight champion, has announced the end of his professional relationship with Alex Krassyuk, his promoter of twelve years. However, according to international media sources on Tuesday, their personal bond remains strong.
Usyk is preparing to face Daniel Dubois in a rematch scheduled for July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London.
The initial match took place in August 2023 in Poland, where Oleksandr Usyk secured a victory over Dubois via a ninth-round knockout after twice flooring the British fighter. The fight was controversial after a punch that dropped Usyk was deemed a low blow by officials.
Significant changes have occurred since the first Dubois fight, most notably the separation of Usyk and Krassyuk.
Krassyuk initially announced their separation on social media on June 22, reflecting on their shared journey.
Krassyuk’s Farewell Message
In his Instagram post, Krassyuk stated, “It’s been a tremendous journey — 12 years of unbelievable success. Two young dreamers met each other to change the game. Back in 2013, I gave you my word — and I kept it. At the time, no one believed we were capable of achieving what we set out to do. But by the grace of God, we completed the mission impossible… A dream come true!!! Thank you for all we’ve gone through and for the honour to be the lifetime promoter of the Double Undisputed. May the Lord bless you and guide your next steps. Thanks God for everything.”
Usyk has since addressed the change, clarifying that while their professional collaboration has ended, their friendship continues.
Usyk’s Statement
“Listen, we don’t have a broken relationship with Alex. I am building a business, Usyk 17, and Alex Krassyuk is now working with this company. We stopped the relationship in boxing, but Alex helps me with other work. We worked a lot of years, 12. We won a great trophy, but we continue to work, but do different work,” Usyk explained.
