Woltemade Transfer Could Pave Way for Isak to Liverpool

Newcastle United has reportedly reached an agreement with VfB Stuttgart for forward Nick Woltemade, in a deal valued at £64.9 million ($87.5m), according to international reports on Friday.

Sources indicate the German international is expected to undergo a medical examination imminently.

While Bayern Munich also expressed interest in acquiring Woltemade, Newcastle purportedly secured the deal after Stuttgart accepted their offer for the towering 6ft 6ins striker.

Newcastle’s manager, Eddie Howe, conveyed optimism regarding the potential acquisition, stating that progress is being made.

Howe remarked, “There are encouraging signs. Developments are moving positively at present. I cannot confirm anything definitively until it is finalized, but I am hopeful.”

He added regarding Woltemade’s potential immediate debut, “I don’t anticipate he’ll be available to play Leeds immediately. Our priority has been to secure a centre forward throughout the summer, and we are hopeful that we are nearing that goal.”

The centre-forward, who has earned two caps for Germany, tallied 17 goals across all competitions for VfB Stuttgart last season.

The successful acquisition of Nick Woltemade may facilitate Isak’s potential transfer to Liverpool. However, it is suggested that Liverpool has yet to increase their £110m bid for the Swedish international after Newcastle previously declined their initial offer.

Newcastle has encountered challenges in the transfer market, struggling to secure a new striker.

Previous pursuits of Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Hugo Ekitike, and Benjamin Sesko were unsuccessful, as none were inclined to join St James’ Park.

Newcastle remains active in the transfer market, reportedly considering moves for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and Wolves striker Jørgen Strand Larsen before the transfer window concludes on Monday at 7 p.m. BST.
