Isak Claims Newcastle United Broke Promises

Alexander Isak has publicly accused Newcastle United of misleading its fanbase and reneging on previous commitments. The forward expressed his grievances in a statement shared on social media on Tuesday.

Recent reports have linked the Swedish international with a move to Liverpool, suggesting he is keen on joining the Merseyside club before the transfer window closes on September 1.

The 25-year-old player has now verified his desire to depart from the club, stating that he communicated this intention to Newcastle some time ago.

“When commitments are not honored and faith is eroded, the association becomes untenable,” he conveyed on his Instagram account. “A change serves the greater good, not solely my own.”

At the time of reporting, Newcastle has not issued any statement or response regarding this matter.

According to various sources, Liverpool reportedly made an offer for Isak earlier in the month, proposing £110 million along with potential additional payments. Furthermore, Isak was recognized in the PFA Premier League Team for the 2024/25 season.

Notably, he chose not to be present at the awards ceremony, seemingly due to the ongoing situation.

Alexander Isak further clarified that he intentionally remained silent for an extended period, during which others were allowed to disseminate their own interpretations of events.

He emphasized that the club has been aware of his stance for quite some time.

“I have deliberately refrained from speaking out while others have been vocal. This silence has enabled individuals to advance their narratives, even when they diverge from the actual discussions and agreements made privately,” he elaborated.

“The truth is that assurances were provided, and the club has been cognizant of my position for a considerable duration. To suggest that these concerns are only now surfacing is disingenuous.”

Isak was notably absent from Newcastle’s recent match against Aston Villa, which ended in a goalless draw. Eddie Howe’s team is preparing to face the current champions, Liverpool, in their upcoming fixture on Monday.
