New Zealand Dominate Zimbabwe with Massive Lead

BULAWAYO: On the second day of the second Test at Queens Sports Club, Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra, and Henry Nicholls each achieved centuries, propelling New Zealand to a commanding first-innings advantage over Zimbabwe.

At the close of play, the visitors stood at 601/3, boasting a substantial 476-run lead with Nicholls and Ravindra remaining at the crease.

The pair are set to continue New Zealand’s innings on the third day, aiming to enforce an innings defeat upon Zimbabwe and secure a 2-0 victory in the two-match series.

Earlier, the touring team resumed their first innings from their overnight score of 174/1, with Conway and nightwatchman Jacob Duffy at the crease.

The duo presented a challenge for Zimbabwe’s bowlers, adding 61 runs to their partnership until Vincent Masekesa dismissed Duffy, who contributed a useful 36 runs, including six boundaries.

Conway then forged a 110-run partnership for the third wicket with Henry Nicholls before being bowled out by Blessing Muzarabani.

The left-handed batsman scored 153 runs from 245 balls, hitting 18 boundaries.

Following Conway’s dismissal, Ravindra joined Nicholls, and together they strongly advanced New Zealand’s position.

The pair constructed an unbroken 256-run stand for the fourth wicket, pushing New Zealand’s total beyond the 600-run mark.

At the end of the second day, Ravindra remained unbeaten on 165 runs from just 139 deliveries, having struck 21 fours and two sixes, while Nicholls was not out on 150, including 15 boundaries.

For Zimbabwe, only Masekesa and Muzarabani managed to take a wicket on the second day.
