National Disabled T20 Championship Announced
The Pakistan Disability Cricket Association (PDCA) has revealed plans for the National Disabled T20 Championship, set to commence in Karachi on August 11. The tournament will unfold across two phases, initially in Karachi and later in Islamabad.
Ameer Uddin Ansari, the General Secretary of the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association and the Event Director, made the announcement during a press conference held at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.
The initial stage of the National PD T20 Cricket Championship will be hosted at the ILCA Cricket Ground in Gulberg. Participating teams include Karachi, Multan (the defending champions), Lahore, and Quetta.
According to the schedule, the championship will feature two matches per day. The subsequent phase is scheduled to begin in Islamabad on August 18 and conclude on August 20.
The Islamabad phase will include teams representing Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Bahawalpur. The final showdown, pitting the victors from the initial and subsequent phases against each other, will be held in Karachi. The date and location for the final will be announced subsequently.
Key figures present at the press conference were Imran Bulbani, the President of the Pakistan Physical Disability Cricket Association, Shakeel Sharif, the chairman of the Association, Arshad Khan, representing the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Shabbir Haroon, the president of the Pakistan Memon Federation.
During the press conference, the president of the Pakistan Memon Federation voiced his dedication to the advancement of disability cricket in Pakistan.
“We are committed to further promoting and developing disability cricket in Pakistan. In the coming months, you will see significant and positive developments in this area, which will also aid in addressing the financial difficulties encountered by players,” he stated.
Imran Bulbani, the President of the Association, also shared that plans are in progress for a PD T20 Asia Cup, with intentions to engage with India and other nations.
“We are actively planning to host a PD T20 Asia Cup and will reach out to all participating countries, including India. Furthermore, we are working towards offering central contracts to Pakistan’s talented international disabled cricketers,” he added.
