Naomi Osaka and Coach Patrick Mouratoglou End Partnership

Naomi Osaka, the Japanese tennis star, has announced her separation from coach Patrick Mouratoglou following her exit from the Washington Open. International media sources confirmed the conclusion of their partnership, which began less than a year ago.

The four-time Grand Slam champion commenced her collaboration with Mouratoglou in September of the previous year, prior to the China Open, marking her return to the sport after a prolonged maternity leave.

Osaka publicly declared her separation from Patrick Mouratoglou via an Instagram post on Sunday.

In her post, Osaka expressed her gratitude: “Merci Patrick. Learning from you was a fantastic experience. I wish you all the best. You’re among the most remarkable individuals I’ve encountered, and I’m confident our paths will cross again.”

Under the guidance of Frenchman Mouratoglou, who previously led Serena Williams to significant achievements, including 10 of her 23 major titles, Osaka secured her first WTA title since 2021 at the L’Open 35 de Saint-Malo in May, a WTA 125 tournament.

She also found success at the Auckland Classic in January, progressing to the final, where she was unfortunately forced to withdraw due to an injury. However, her performance at this year’s French Open was less successful, as she faced a first-round defeat against Paula Badosa.

Mouratoglou also shared a farewell message on social media, extending his best wishes to Naomi Osaka for her future endeavors.

Mouratoglou stated, “Nothing is permanent. The value lies in what a collaboration imparts to each participant and its lasting impact.”

He further added, “After a 10-month collaboration, we’ve decided to proceed separately on a professional level. I appreciate the trust, the journey, and the achievements we’ve shared. I will always support you and wish you the very best.”

Osaka’s next competition is the Canadian Open in Toronto, where she is scheduled to face Ariana Arseneault.
