Sultans Replace Motie with Campher Amid PSL 10 Struggles
KARACHI: Curtis Campher from Ireland has been enlisted by Multan Sultans as a replacement for Gudakesh Motie of the West Indies in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10, the franchise officially announced on Monday.
While the team has not specified the reason for this roster change, various media outlets are suggesting that Motie’s departure is due to a personal matter requiring him to return to Guyana. This situation led to Campher being brought in as his replacement.
“We’re excited to welcome Curtis Campher to the Sultans squad!” the Sultans announced via social media, accompanied by an animated graphic featuring the Irish all-rounder.
Campher, a fast-bowling all-rounder with experience in seven Tests, 43 ODIs, and 61 T20Is for Ireland, has limited experience in franchise cricket, primarily appearing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) on two occasions.
During his time with the Chattogram Challengers, Campher accumulated 128 runs across nine innings, maintaining an average of 18.28. Additionally, he claimed nine wickets in 10 innings, with an average of 27.77 and a best bowling performance of 4/20.
Notably, the Sultans, who have consistently reached the PSL finals in the last four seasons, including a championship win in 2021, have had a disappointing start to the current season. They are currently positioned at the bottom of the league table, having not secured a victory in their first three matches.
Their next match is scheduled against the two-time champions, Lahore Qalandars, at their home ground on Tuesday.
Multan Sultans Squad for PSL 10: Mohammad Rizwan, Usama Mir, Michael Bracewell, David Willey, Iftikhar Ahmed, Usman Khan, Chris Jordan, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hasnain, Faisal Akram, Akif Javed, Gudakesh Motie, Josh Little, Tayyab Tahir, Shahid Aziz, Ubaid Shah, Muhammad Amir Barki, Ashton Turner, and Yasir Khan.
