PCB Chairman Lauds Security for Bangladesh Cricket Series
LAHORE: Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has commended the outstanding security measures implemented for the recent cricket series against Bangladesh.
He expressed his appreciation for the commendable work of the Lahore Police, Pakistan Army, Rangers, and various other security organizations.
Chairman Naqvi conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and the Punjab government for their steadfast support across all domains.
He acknowledged that the backing of the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, was truly exceptional.
He underlined that law enforcement agencies successfully guaranteed comprehensive security throughout all three matches, enabling cricket enthusiasts to relish the games in a protected environment.
Naqvi offered his congratulations to the Lahore Police and all relevant security entities for their commitment and relentless efforts.
Moreover, he conveyed special acknowledgment to the officers and staff who carried out their responsibilities with the highest level of dedication, playing a vital part in the triumphant and secure execution of the cricket series.
Notably, Pakistan secured a clean sweep in the three-match T20I series, winning the final match by seven wickets at the Gaddafi Stadium, thus completing the 3-0 victory.
After being set a challenging target of 197 runs, Pakistan’s innings encountered an early setback as opener Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed cheaply, scoring only one run from four deliveries against Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s bowling.
However, Mohammad Haris and Saim Ayub promptly steadied the innings with a dominant partnership. The pair contributed 56 runs during the powerplay, losing just one wicket while maintaining a rapid scoring pace.
Haris and Saim forged a 92-run partnership for the second wicket, showcasing aggressive and fluent stroke play to ensure Pakistan remained in control. The partnership concluded when Tanzim Hasan removed Saim for a well-compiled 45 off 29 balls, leaving Pakistan at 100-2 after 9.5 overs.
Despite the setback, Mohammad Haris continued to lead the innings, achieving his half-century with Pakistan at 115-2 after 11 overs.
Hasan Nawaz then delivered a rapid cameo, hitting two boundaries in his 26 off 13 balls before being dismissed by Mehidy Hasan, bringing the score to 137-3 at 12.5 overs.
Remaining resolute, Haris sustained his dominance over the Bangladeshi bowling attack, finding boundaries and clearing the ropes effortlessly. He achieved his first T20I century in just 45 balls, exhibiting exceptional batting throughout the innings.
Haris remained undefeated on a remarkable 107 off 46 balls, which featured eight fours and seven sixes. Captain Agha Salman added a swift 14 off 11 balls as Pakistan comfortably chased down the target in 17.1 overs.
