Melbourne Stars to Host “House of Rauf” for Pakistani Fans

The Melbourne Stars will introduce a special section at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for Pakistani cricket enthusiasts during the forthcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season. Christened “House of Rauf,” the dedicated stand seeks to connect with South Asian supporters, notably those from Pakistan, at all home games.

Max Ebert, the General Manager of the Melbourne Stars, commented that the concept is designed to honor Pakistani supporters and their traditions.

“Our aim is for Pakistani fans to attend, enjoy the matches, and proudly display their cultural heritage,” he stated.

Haris Rauf, a prominent Pakistani fast bowler and a beloved figure in the BBL, has been designated as a leading representative for this endeavor.

The right-arm quick has been an integral part of the Stars since 2019. As of 2024, he has participated in 22 BBL games, securing 36 wickets with an impressive economy rate of 7.75.

He further added, “Haris has served as a superb ambassador for the Stars, and we appreciate the passionate backing from the Pakistani community, which he has significantly contributed to cultivating.”

The House of Rauf promises an energetic game-day ambiance inspired by Pakistani culture, complete with cuisine, music, and a vibrant community atmosphere.

Ebert highlighted that this initiative is consistent with Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Action Plan, which seeks to establish inclusive opportunities for multicultural communities and foster diversity within Australian cricket.

The Big Bash League’s next season is set to commence on December 14 with a match between the Perth Scorchers and the Sydney Sixers. The Stars will launch their season against the Hobart Hurricanes on December 18.
