Dodgers Triumph Over Nationals in MLB Showdown
LOS ANGELES: In a Major League Baseball (MLB) contest held at Dodger Stadium on Sunday, Max Muncy’s grand slam and three-run homer supported the Los Angeles Dodgers in securing a 13-7 victory against the Washington Nationals.
Shohei Ohtani contributed a three-run triple in the seventh inning and a two-run homer in the eighth. He also pitched a scoreless first inning, recording two strikeouts in his second start on the mound this season.
For the Nationals, Nathaniel Lowe hit a home run and secured four RBIs. The Nationals were coming off two wins in three games after previously enduring an 11-game losing streak.
Michael Soroka, the starting pitcher for Washington, allowed three runs on two hits over five and one-third innings. He achieved a career-high of 10 strikeouts while issuing two walks.
Dalton Rushing initiated the sixth inning with a ground-rule double down the left-field line, followed by Ohtani walking on four pitches. Freddie Freeman then reached base after being hit by a pitch, loading the bases and concluding Soroka’s outing.
Subsequently, Muncy hit a home run off Jose Ferrer, granting the Dodgers a 4-3 advantage.
In the seventh inning, Ohtani delivered a bases-loaded triple, extending the Dodgers’ lead to 7-3.
Mookie Betts then drove in Ohtani with a single, increasing the score to 8-3. The inning proceeded with Muncy launching a three-run homer, establishing an 11-3 lead.
Rushing singled with one out in the eighth and subsequently scored his third run of the game on Ohtani’s home run, bringing the score to 13-3.
In the ninth inning, the Dodgers positioned utility player Enrique Hernandez on the mound. The Nationals managed to score two runs against him, which prompted the need for Alex Vesia to secure the final two outs after two inherited runners scored.
Ben Casparius (6-1) pitched five innings for Los Angeles, conceding three runs on five hits.
