Manchester United Set to Clash with Tottenham Hotspur in Europa League Final

Manchester United have clinched their spot in the Europa League final after a dominant 4-1 victory against Athletic Bilbao in the second leg of their semi-final match held at Old Trafford on Thursday. Mason Mount shone, scoring twice for the Red Devils.

Despite holding a significant 3-0 lead from the initial leg, United began the match with visible tension. Bilbao took advantage, with Mikel Jauregizar scoring in the 31st minute after a defensive error by Harry Maguire. The first half concluded with Bilbao leading 1-0.

Mount leveled the score in the 72nd minute, converting a precise pass from Leny Yoro. Casemiro then regained United’s advantage with a commanding header in the 80th minute from a well-placed free-kick by Bruno Fernandes. Rasmus Højlund increased the lead five minutes later, capitalizing on a clever play started by Amad Diallo.

Mount sealed the victory with his second goal in stoppage time, executing a remarkable long-range strike from inside Bilbao’s half after collecting a loose ball.

“It was a long wait for a night like that,” Mount commented after the game. “I remained focused, training diligently every day, and maintained a positive attitude. When the chance arose, I aimed to make an impact, and tonight it paid off.”

Manchester United secured the tie with an impressive 7-1 aggregate score, extending their unbeaten streak in the competition. They are now scheduled to face fellow Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur in the final on May 21. Spurs advanced after a 5-1 aggregate victory over Bodø/Glimt.
