Zahid Mahmood’s Nine Wickets Lead Larkana to Victory
KARACHI: A stellar bowling performance by captain Zahid Mahmood, complemented by centuries from Malhar Rasool, Sabit Ali, and Mohsin Raza, propelled Larkana Region to a resounding 274-run victory over Dera Murad Jamali in their Hanif Mohammad Trophy Grade-II encounter. The match concluded on Monday at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi.
In pursuit of a challenging 475-run target set by Larkana Region, Dera Murad Jamali were dismissed for 201 in their second innings.
Dawood Khan offered some resistance, emerging as the top scorer in the second innings with 43 runs. Skipper Fahad Hussain contributed 38 runs before his dismissal. Mohammad Shahid added 25, Aqib Junaid scored 16, and Akhtar Mohammad chipped in with 13.
Abid Ali Bangalzai and Taimur Ali also reached double figures with 12 runs each, but their efforts were insufficient. Majid Ali scored eight, while Parvaiz Ahmed was dismissed for five.
Zahid Mahmood shone with the ball for Larkana, securing 5/72 in 24.5 overs during the second innings, bringing his match total to nine wickets. Shahnawaz Dahani and Mushtaq Ahmed each claimed two wickets, and Aamir Ali Taheem took one.
Earlier in the match, Larkana posted 311 runs in their first innings, powered by Sabit Ali’s impressive 115 and Mohsin Raza’s 100. Ghulam Raza contributed 49 runs.
Mohammad Shahid and Abu Huraira each grabbed three wickets for Dera Murad Jamali, while Fahad Hussain and Nasir Khan took two wickets each.
Dera Murad Jamali’s batting faltered in response, as they were bowled out for 166, trailing by 145 runs. Taimur Ali showed resilience with a score of 59.
Zahid Mahmood also impressed in the first innings, claiming 4/71 in 24 overs. Mushtaq Ahmed and Aamir Ali Taheem secured two wickets each, while Shahzaib Aziz took one.
Larkana declared their second innings at 330/5 with a 145-run lead, establishing a target of 475 runs. Malhar Rasool stood out with a score of 119. Sabit Ali, who scored a century in the first innings, added 66, while Ghulam Raza remained unbeaten on 53.
Mohammad Shahid picked up two wickets for Dera Murad Jamali, while Fahad Hussain and Abu Huraira managed one each, but their efforts were not enough to overcome Larkana’s dominance.
