Nafay Appreciates Skill Development Camp’s Influence
LAHORE: Khawaja Nafay, a rising wicketkeeper-batsman from Pakistan, recently provided perspectives on his evolving training methods, key areas of focus, and the motivational guidance he has received from distinguished figures in cricket.
During a media interaction at the ongoing Skills Development Camp, Nafay voiced his satisfaction with the camp’s effect, pointing out considerable progress in his abilities and frame of mind.
“The skills camp has brought significant development. I am concentrating on power-hitting with Abdul Razzaq while also rigorously practicing against spin bowlers. We deal with around 800 deliveries each day, responding swiftly which strengthens our muscles. This activity will help us down the road,” Nafay commented.
He recalled an important conversation during the skills development camp, emphasizing the inspiring advice he gained from a legendary cricketer.
“I had the chance to gain knowledge from Vivian Richards; he advised me that if I approach the game with confidence, no challenge will be insurmountable. Vivian Richards revealed that he consistently executed even the toughest shots with self-assurance,” he mentioned.
Looking forward, the young cricketer is committed to keeping up the same degree of commitment beyond the camp.
“I will endeavor to continue practicing according to this strategy even after the camp concludes. The coaches have also instructed me to improve my wicketkeeping abilities. I have been told to remain prepared as a wicketkeeper too. I am making preparations to perform in every format,” he stated.
The middle-order batsman finished by reiterating his dedication to evolving into a versatile player.

The right-handed batsman has played for Quetta Gladiators in two editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), participating in 12 games and accumulating 234 runs with a strike rate of 130.00, including a pair of half-centuries.
He has additionally participated in two seasons of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), playing for Chattogram Challengers, where he took part in eight matches and amassed 214 runs.
Reportedly, the young batsman is prepared to debut in the upcoming Global Super League (GSL) 2025, having signed with Rangpur Riders.
The Riders’ lineup features three Pakistani players, including seasoned all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed, emerging pacer Akif Javed, and middle-order batsman Khawaja Nafay.
The competition is slated to be held at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence from July 10-18.
