Draper Taps Delgado as New Coach for 2025 Season

Tennis player Jack Draper has selected Jamie Delgado, previously a coach for Andy Murray, as his new head coach for the upcoming 2025 season, according to reports. This transition occurs as James Trotman, Draper’s long-standing coach, reduces his commitment to full-time coaching, although he will remain involved throughout the year.

Trotman has been instrumental in Draper’s ascent since 2021, aiding his consistent progress in the ATP rankings, where he achieved a career-best rank of World No. 4. Simultaneously, Delgado guided Andy Murray to victory at Wimbledon in 2016, marking the Scot’s third and final Grand Slam title.

Delgado’s collaboration with Murray extended through the 2021 season, after which he coached prominent players within the top 20, including Denis Shapovalov and Grigor Dimitrov. Currently, Draper is dealing with a bone bruise in his left arm, which led to his withdrawal from the US Open in September.

Draper shared his disappointment regarding the injury on social media. He stated, “Unfortunately, I need to rest my arm injury, which means I will miss the remainder of 2025. This is particularly hard to accept since I was gaining significant momentum this year and performing exceptionally well.”

He added, “I’ve faced similar situations before, and I always return stronger, driven by my desire to achieve my full potential as a player. I am grateful to everyone who believes in me and supports my journey. I am eager to get back on the court and give my all. I look forward to seeing you soon.”

Prior to his injury, Draper made a strong impression on the tour, securing his first ATP Masters 1000 title at Indian Wells. He defeated Carlos Alcaraz of Spain in the semi-finals and Holger Rune of Denmark in the final.

With Delgado joining his team, Draper now has three former members of Murray’s team, including physiotherapist Shane Annun and fitness coach Matt Little.

Draper intends to resume playing during the Australia tour in January and is scheduled to participate in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS) exhibition event in London from December 5-7.
