Isak Transfers to Liverpool Following Long-Term Agreement
Alexander Isak has conveyed his appreciation to Newcastle United’s fanbase through a heartfelt farewell message after his transition to Liverpool.
The Swedish player finalized his move from Newcastle to Liverpool, signing a long-term contract after passing his medical assessment on the transfer deadline day, marking a record-breaking deal in British football history.
Newcastle accepted a bid of £125 million ($170 million) for Isak on Monday, having previously declined an offer of £110 million with additional incentives earlier in the month.
Isak’s agreement with Liverpool spans six years, and he will wear the number 9 jersey for the team.
The Swedish forward’s transfer represents the highest expenditure in Premier League history, exceeding Chelsea’s acquisition of Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion for £115 million in the summer of 2023.
In his farewell message shared on Instagram, Isak voiced his gratitude to his former colleagues, reflected on his experiences, and expressed thanks to the club’s supporters.
“I extend my sincere thanks to my teammates, the staff, and most importantly, the city of Newcastle and its incredible fans for the three memorable years we shared,” Isak stated in his Instagram post.
“Together, we’ve made significant strides and elevated the club to its rightful position.
“I am honored to have been part of this journey, from securing a spot in the Champions League to clinching the first trophy in over seven decades. I will forever be grateful. Thank you, Newcastle.”
Alexander Isak has been absent from Newcastle’s lineups this season and had been training separately amid speculations of a move to Liverpool. He also did not participate in Eddie Howe’s team’s tour of the Far East.
The Swedish international, who joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for £60 million, scored 27 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions last season.
