Isak Added to Sweden Squad Amid Transfer Speculation

Despite the ongoing situation with Newcastle United, Alexander Isak has been included in Sweden’s squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo next month, according to reports.

Isak has yet to participate in any of Newcastle’s games this season and has been training separately. The Swedish striker has been linked to Liverpool, with speculation suggesting he is eager to join the Reds before the transfer window closes on September 1.

Earlier in the month, Liverpool reportedly made an offer of £110m plus potential add-ons for the player. However, the Magpies turned down the proposal, as they have not yet identified a suitable replacement.

Sweden’s coach, Jon Dahl Tomasson, expressed his satisfaction with Isak’s inclusion and conveyed his delight that the striker is keen to participate.

“I am very pleased that Alexander Isak desires to be part of the squad; he is an important player,” Dahl Tomasson stated.

“His current situation is not optimal, as he has not been training with the team.

However, he possesses the ability to influence games, and he wants to contribute to our squad. The World Cup holds significance for Alexander Isak.”

Last week, the 25-year-old forward released a statement confirming his desire to leave Newcastle, stating that he has lost faith in the club.

“When assurances are not honored and confidence erodes, the association cannot endure,” he posted on Instagram.

“A transition serves the collective interest, not solely my own.”

The Premier League team responded, claiming that the conditions for his departure have not been satisfied.

Subsequently, Newcastle’s manager, Eddie Howe, stated his preference for resolving the matter privately.
