India vs. England: Playing XIs for the Final Test
India has officially announced its team for the fifth and decisive Test match against England, also known as the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The match is scheduled to commence on Thursday at The Oval. Jasprit Bumrah, the top-ranked Test bowler, will be rested for this crucial encounter.
Bumrah, who is among India’s leading wicket-takers in the series, will be absent along with Shardul Thakur and Anshul Kamboj.
Taking their spots are pacers Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep, with middle-order batsman Karun Nair included in the lineup for his first appearance in this series.
An additional change was necessitated by Rishabh Pant’s foot injury, sustained during the fourth Test at Old Trafford.
Dhruv Jurel will debut as wicketkeeper, while Shubman Gill will remain as captain.
England has also made four changes to their squad. Regular captain Ben Stokes is out due to a shoulder issue, and Ollie Pope will take over as captain.
Fast bowlers Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse, in addition to spinner Liam Dawson, will be rested. Gus Atkinson, Josh Tongue, and Jamie Overton will join the team, while Jacob Bethell will fill the void left by Stokes.
Pope won the toss and chose to bowl first, marking the fifth consecutive time Gill has lost the toss in this series.
