Kohli’s Test Legacy Lauded Ahead of England Series
Prior to the Test series versus England, Virat Kohli’s Test retirement on May 12 has been noted. Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja recently spoke, commending Virat Kohli’s leadership and assertive mentality while captaining the Test side, highlighting his refusal to concede defeat.
Virat Kohli stands out as one of the most accomplished captains to have guided India in Test matches. Under Kohli’s leadership, India achieved a milestone by becoming the first Asian team to secure a Test series victory against Australia on their own grounds.
Jadeja, a seasoned Indian all-rounder, has participated in numerous Test matches alongside Kohli throughout his career. Jadeja believes that Kohli’s proactive mindset was crucial in attaining success in the game’s lengthiest format.
Jadeja’s Comments on Kohli’s Mindset
During an appearance on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube program, Jadeja acknowledged Kohli’s aggressive strategy in Test cricket, underscoring his persistent ambition to capture 20 wickets and emerge victorious in matches.
He stated that Kohli maintains an unwavering commitment, regardless of the match situation. Jadeja remarked, “His positive attitude, especially in Test matches, is noteworthy. Virat always aimed for the team to secure 20 wickets, displaying relentless determination, whether it’s a three-hour period or with only 45 overs remaining, his focus remains on taking all 10 wickets of the opposition.”
India Prepares for England Series
Meanwhile, the Indian squad is actively preparing for the forthcoming five-Test series against England, scheduled to commence on June 20.
Notably, this marks the first instance since 2011 that India will participate in a red-ball series in England without Kohli.
It’s worth mentioning that Kohli declared his retirement from the game’s longest format on May 12.
Kohli’s most recent Test appearance was in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, where he accumulated only 190 runs in five Tests, following an unbeaten century in the initial Test match.
