India Clinches ODI Series Against England

CHESTER-LE-STREET: Harmanpreet Kaur’s remarkable century, coupled with Kranti Gaud’s impressive six-wicket haul, propelled India to a 13-run victory against England in the final ODI held here on Tuesday. This win ensured India secured the three-match series with a 2–1 result.

India elected to bat after winning the toss, a decision that proved beneficial as they amassed a significant score of 318/5 in their 50 overs.

Kaur’s Captain’s Knock

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur spearheaded the batting lineup with a dynamic innings of 102 runs from 84 deliveries, punctuated by 14 boundaries.

Jemimah Rodrigues supported her captain with a well-played half-century, scoring 50 runs off 45 balls, including seven fours. Contributions from Smriti Mandhana and Harleen Deol, who both scored 45, further bolstered the Indian total.

Richa Ghosh added some late fireworks with a rapid 38 off just 18 balls, comprising two sixes and three fours. Opener Pratika Rawal contributed 26 runs before her dismissal.

England’s bowling attack saw Lauren Bell, Lauren Filer, Charlie Dean, Sophie Ecclestone, and Linsey Smith each claim a single wicket.

England’s Response

In pursuit of 319, England fought hard but were eventually bowled out for 305 in 49.5 overs.

Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt led England’s charge with a resilient 98 off 105 balls, featuring 11 boundaries, narrowly missing out on a century.

Emma Lamb contributed 68 runs off 81 balls, including five fours. Useful scores from Alice Davidson-Richards (44), Sophia Dunkley (34), and Charlie Dean (21) weren’t enough to guide England to victory.

Linsey Smith added 14 runs, Lauren Bell (seven), Amy Jones (four), Tammy Beaumont (two), and Sophie Ecclestone (one) also contributed to the scoreboard.

Gaud’s Bowling Masterclass

India’s Kranti Gaud delivered an outstanding bowling performance, securing 6/52 in 9.5 overs, including one maiden over.

Shree Charani took 2/68 in nine overs, while Deepti Sharma claimed 1/55 in her 10 overs, playing a crucial role in India’s series victory.
