Imad Believes Hesson’s Greatest Task Involves Addressing Pakistan Cricket’s Internal Issues
Former all-rounder Imad Wasim has lauded the selection of Mike Hesson as the new head coach for Pakistan, viewing it as a favorable development for the squad.
He voiced his confidence that the New Zealander’s presence will usher in much-needed uniformity and solidity to Pakistan’s limited-overs cricket.
During a recent discussion on a local sports platform, Imad conveyed his anticipation that Hesson’s period will result in a considerable enhancement in Pakistan’s strategy to limited-overs cricket.
However, he also emphasized the necessity of possessing a well-defined approach to achieve success in the current format of the game.
“There is a contrast between being careless, foolish, and fearless. These qualities are closely related, and one must not go beyond the limit. Overdoing things is not the answer; even England adheres to specific guidelines, particularly in T20 Cricket,” Imad stated.
“Mike Hesson possesses a deep understanding of the game. I have had discussions with him regarding cricket, and he gives the impression of being an excellent coach. Let’s observe how things unfold,” he added.
The 36-year-old suggests that Hesson’s primary obstacle will be navigating the internal turmoil frequently linked to Pakistan cricket.
“I am still of the opinion that granting them a period of four to six months or three to four series could yield positive results. I aspire to witness Pakistan exhibit quality cricket, and we shall see the progression,” he concluded.
Notably, Pakistan has commenced positively under Hesson’s guidance in the ongoing three-match T20I series, securing victory in the initial match by 37 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday.
Initially batting, Pakistan recorded a substantial total of 201-7, attributed to an outstanding 56-run performance by captain Salman Ali Agha.
This was reinforced by notable innings from Shadab Khan and Hasan Nawaz, who posted 48 and 44 runs, respectively. Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris also contributed considerably with a rapid 31 off 18 balls.
In response, Bangladesh were dismissed for 164 in 19.2 overs, with Hasan Ali delivering an impressive four-over session, achieving his finest T20I stats of 5/30.
Shadab Khan secured two wickets and was recognized as Player of the Match for his comprehensive display.
With Pakistan leading the series 1-0, the subsequent T20I will occur on Friday at the same location, succeeded by the series conclusion on June 1.
