Imad Wasim Explains His Unique Celebration Style

Islamabad United’s all-rounder, Imad Wasim, has clarified the inspiration behind his signature celebrations following each wicket in the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) season.

In a conversation on the PSL’s official YouTube channel, the 36-year-old disclosed that PlayStation FIFA game sessions with his teammates and management are the reason for his celebrations.

“Our celebratory actions are actually mapped out with the entire team and management,” the all-rounder revealed.

“We spend a good amount of time playing FIFA together, to be clear – they aren’t random; every player has a specific celebration picked out for this season. I’ve decided to show my respect for footballers Mohamed Salah and Kylian Mbappé,” Imad Wasim stated.

The slow left-arm bowler reiterated that his actions are predetermined. “Before each match, our group decides which celebration I will do if I manage to take wickets. It’s all about team building and enjoying ourselves through our performances.”

Imad Wasim is supporting his celebrations with solid performances, having secured six wickets across three games, including his best figures of 3/26.

During the interview, Islamabad United’s captain, Shadab Khan, who was also present, showed his satisfaction with the team’s positive start to the campaign, where they achieved three successive victories.

The captain also gave special praise to West Indian all-rounder Jason Holder, calling him a “proven match-winner” following his influential performances.

“When we bring in foreign players, we conduct thorough evaluations of their statistics and how well they fit into the team,” Shadab explained.

“Holder’s performance has been extraordinary and has validated his selection. His vast experience and determination have been clear in every match. He is displaying intense focus while bowling, which is precisely what the team requires.”
