Mehidy Hasan Miraz Honored as ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2025
Bangladeshi all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been declared the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2025, recognizing his exceptional performances in the two-Test series against Zimbabwe.
Mehidy surpassed Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani and New Zealand’s Ben Sears to secure the coveted title. This is his inaugural ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, making him the third cricketer from Bangladesh to achieve this distinction, following Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan.
The Bangladeshi all-rounder conveyed his appreciation upon receiving the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award, acknowledging its significance.
“Winning the ICC Men’s Player of the Month is a tremendous honor. The ICC Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement for any cricketer, and to be recognized through a global vote is deeply meaningful,” Mehidy Hasan remarked.
Reflecting on his career, he compared this accomplishment to a notable milestone from his early years.
“Achievements like these remind me of my journey — being named Player of the Tournament in the 2016 ICC Under 19 World Cup was a significant encouragement early in my career, and this award feels equally special,” he added.
He concluded by dedicating the award to his supporters and highlighting its motivating influence.
“I am genuinely thrilled. This award will serve as a great source of inspiration for me to continue performing at my best and contributing to Bangladesh’s success on the international stage. As cricketers, we aspire to make a difference and bring joy to our fans. This recognition from the ICC inspires me to keep striving and performing consistently for my country. I extend my gratitude to my teammates, coaches, and fans — this award is for all of us,” he concluded.
The 27-year-old displayed remarkable form against Zimbabwe, amassing 116 runs in two Tests at an average of 38.66, and capturing 15 wickets at an impressive average of 11.86.
In the first Test in Sylhet, Mehidy immediately made his mark with back-to-back five-wicket hauls — 5/52 in the first innings and 5/50 in the second. Despite his efforts, Zimbabwe narrowly won by three wickets.
However, Miraz responded strongly in the second Test in Chattogram. After contributing to Zimbabwe’s low score in the first innings, he played a crucial innings of 104 off 162 balls to stabilize Bangladesh’s response and shift the momentum. He completed his all-round performance with another five-wicket haul, taking 5/32 in the second innings to lead Bangladesh to an innings-and-106-run victory and level the series 1-1.
