ICC ODI Rankings: Agha and Ahmed Ascend, Ayub Declines
Following revisions made after the initial One Day International between South Africa and Australia, which saw a victory for the Proteas, Pakistani all-rounder Salman Ali Agha and spinner Abrar Ahmed have demonstrated considerable advancement in the updated ICC ODI rankings.
Agha has moved up three positions to claim the 40th spot with a rating of 550 points.
Pakistan’s premier batsman has once again attained the second position, having briefly conceded it to India’s ODI captain, Rohit Sharma, who has now exited the upper echelons of the rankings.
Pakistan’s ODI team leader, Mohammad Rizwan, has descended five places to 27th, while opener Fakhar Zaman has fallen one spot to 28th with 592 and 584 points, respectively.
Left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq, presently engaged with Yorkshire in the ongoing One-Day Cup and not a participant in Pakistan’s current ODI lineup, has slipped three positions to 42nd.
Rising batter Saim Ayub experienced the most significant decline, dropping 12 places to 60th with 503 points.
Globally, India’s Shubman Gill remains the dominant No.1 ODI batter, with New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell securing third place.
Concerning bowling rankings, Pakistan’s left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has fallen two positions to 15th, while Haris Rauf has dropped three spots to 31st.
Spinner Abrar Ahmed, however, has achieved a notable advancement of 18 places to 43rd with 502 points.
Naseem Shah has declined three positions to 51st, while Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Wasim Jr. have also each dropped three places to 78th and 87th, respectively.
South African spinner Keshav Maharaj, who secured a five-wicket haul against Australia in the ODI series opener, has ascended two spots to become the new No.1 ODI bowler, displacing Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana to second and India’s Kuldeep Yadav to third.
