Hockey Players Frustrated with Unpaid Dues, Accuse PHF of Misleading Conduct
LAHORE: Pakistan’s national hockey players are increasingly frustrated due to pending payments, expressing considerable discontent with the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).
Sources indicate that national team members have begun voicing their concerns regarding the PHF’s actions. The team’s captain, along with senior players, are deeply concerned about their future and are evaluating their subsequent steps.
During private discussions, the players have accused the PHF of dishonesty, stating that the federation has ceased addressing their issues.
Players’ Statements
- “The federation has consistently misled us and kept us uninformed. Now, they do not even respond, which is unacceptable,” the players stated.
- The players also mentioned the absence of anyone in the federation willing to hear their problems or address their worries.
- “We need someone who will at least respond and listen. We have always received assurances about our daily allowances, but these commitments have never been honored,” they added.
Pakistan team captain Imad Butt has assured the team that he will strive to resolve the situation promptly.
“The players have been treated unjustly, and I will bring these issues to the forefront,” he affirmed.
Notably, reports surfaced last week that players from the Pakistan hockey team, who secured a silver medal at the Nations Hockey Cup in Malaysia, have not been compensated for their daily allowances.
Sources suggest that each player is owed around PKR 500,000 in outstanding daily allowances.
They further noted the lack of progress in resolving the matter, with PHF officials ceasing all communication.
According to sources, international daily allowances remained unpaid during the FIH Nations Cup, fueling discontent among players. The federation’s ongoing silence has intensified their frustration.
In addition, the players have not received allowances for the training camps conducted in Islamabad in two phases.
Sources indicated that players are entitled to PKR 30,000 per day for international assignments and PKR 3,000 per day for domestic activities.
