Hrgovic Seeks Rematch with Dubois After Usyk Loss

Filip Hrgovic has publicly challenged Daniel Dubois to a second fight, expressing his determination to secure a victory in a rematch, according to international reports on Sunday. He is hoping to get another chance to fight him.

Dubois suffered a knockout defeat against Oleksandr Usyk in the fifth round of their contest at Wembley Stadium on July 19. The fight was aimed at determining the undisputed heavyweight champion for the second time.

Prior to his defeat on July 19, Dubois had achieved a string of successes, including knockout victories over Jarrell Miller, Anthony Joshua, and Filip Hrgovic, propelling him to his first world title opportunity.

In a recent interview, Hrgovic addressed the factors contributing to his loss to Daniel Dubois and advocated for a rematch.

“Many unfortunate circumstances occurred leading up to the fight. I sustained an injury during the final weeks of sparring, and I was also unwell before the bout, which was evident during the fight. After six rounds, I lacked energy due to the illness. Furthermore, I underestimated him and assumed I would easily defeat him,” Hrgovic stated.

“He caused a cut in the first round, resulting in two significant and deep cuts around both eyes. Blood impaired my vision, and everything that could have gone wrong did. I was not performing at my best.

“He performed admirably, and I am dissatisfied with the result. I believe I am the better fighter, and I hope to have another opportunity to fight him and secure a win. This is the fight I desire most.”
