Eddie Hearn Eyes Jared Anderson for Anthony Joshua’s Return
Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has identified Jared Anderson, a 25-year-old American boxer known for his knockout power, as a potential opponent for Anthony Joshua’s next fight. This comes after Joshua underwent elbow surgery.
Joshua is planning a comeback in December 2025. His last fight was in September 2024 against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, where he suffered injuries.
The British boxer had intended to return to the ring sooner, but his elbow injury caused a delay. Following successful surgery, he is now seeking a suitable opponent for his next match.
In a recent interview, Hearn mentioned several possible opponents for Joshua, including Anderson.
Hearn stated, “Dillian Whyte was a leading contender, but he appears to be fighting Moses instead. Jared Anderson’s name has come up. Deontay Wilder is also returning soon. By the time ‘AJ’ fights again, it will have been over a year since his last match, and he will be recovering from surgery.”
He further commented, “I don’t anticipate Fury being ready to fight around that time. The next fight will likely prepare him for a major fight in 2026, which I believe will be his last year in the sport.”
Anderson’s boxing career began impressively with 16 victories, 14 by knockout. However, he was defeated by Martin Bakole within five rounds in August of the previous year. In February 2025, Anderson returned to the ring and secured a points victory over Marios Kollias.
