Hassan Nawaz Matches Fakhar Zaman’s Undesired T20I Record
MIRPUR: During the second T20I against Bangladesh at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday, top-order batsman Hassan Nawaz equaled an unwanted T20I record previously held by opening batsman Fakhar Zaman.
Hassan’s dismissal for a duck after facing six balls brought his total of T20I ducks to six, putting him on par with Fakhar Zaman. They now jointly hold the record for the most ducks in T20I cricket by a Pakistani batter.
Other Pakistani players who have recorded six ducks in the shortest format of the game include Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and Umar Gul. Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, and Kamran Akmal share third place with seven ducks each.
Former all-rounder Shahid Afridi is in second place with eight ducks, while wicketkeeper-batter Umar Akmal leads the list with 10 T20I ducks in 84 matches.
Moreover, the right-handed batter also holds the distinction of being the second batter with the most ducks in a single calendar year.

Earlier in the match, Bangladesh were bowled out for 133 in their first innings, thanks to a resilient innings by Jaker Ali, who scored 55 runs from 48 balls.
Mahedi Hasan also contributed with 33 runs off 25 balls, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled to make a significant impact.
For Pakistan, debutants Ahmed Daniyal, Salman Mirza, and Abbas Afridi made a strong impression by taking two wickets each, while Faheem Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz each claimed one wicket.
At the time of this report, Pakistan were struggling, standing at 31-6 after 10 overs.
Fakhar Zaman was out for eight, Saim Ayub for one, and Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Nawaz were dismissed for ducks on their first balls. Captain Salman Ali Agha also fell after scoring just nine runs from 23 balls.
Faheem Ashraf and Khushdil Shah were at the crease, trying to stabilize the innings.
It is worth noting that Bangladesh currently lead the three-match T20I series 1-0 after successfully chasing a modest target of 111 runs in the first game, driven by a match-winning half-century from Parvez Hossain Emon.
