Pakistan Gears Up for Tri-Series Against Afghanistan
DUBAI: Pakistani batter Hasan Nawaz stated on Monday that his fellow players are exhibiting excellent form and are determined to maintain this momentum as they head into the T20I tri-series against Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which is the host nation, followed by the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025.
The right-handed batter, with 13 T20I appearances for Pakistan, played a crucial role in Agha XI’s victory over Saim XI during the Green Shirts’ practice match held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Subsequently, Abrar Ahmed, a mystery spinner, and he discussed the practice match in a video shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
During the conversation, Abrar acknowledged the impactful performances of Nawaz and wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris, whose aggressive batting significantly contributed to Saim XI’s defeat.
Nawaz, in turn, lauded Abrar’s exceptional fielding and bowling, and also recognized Fakhar Zaman’s impressive batting display, before affirming the entire team’s good condition.
He conveyed optimism that the players, including himself, would sustain their form throughout the forthcoming competitions.
Nawaz remarked to Abrar, “Your catch and bowling were remarkable, and we successfully restricted them to a modest score.”
He further added, “The players are in great shape, Fakhar performed admirably. With God’s grace, everyone, including myself, will strive to continue this form for both the tri-series and the Asia Cup.”
The Pakistan squad, preparing for the tri-series and the continental tournament, is presently engaged in a training camp.
The tri-nation series is scheduled to be held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium from August 29 to September 7, involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE.
Pakistan is set to commence its campaign against Afghanistan on August 29 at 7:00 PM local time.
The Asia Cup 2025 is slated to begin on August 9, featuring a match between Afghanistan and Hong Kong, and is expected to conclude on September 28.
The Green Shirts will inaugurate their campaign on September 12 against Oman, with their highly anticipated match against India scheduled for September 14.
